How to you keep your good intentions!

The first month of 2020 is already over. Let’s be honest: are you able to keep your good intentions? Are you actually coming to the gym on a regular base? Are you still trying to lose weight and maintain a healthier lifestyle? If the answer to these questions isn’t ‘yes’, then we have some tips!


1. Stay realistic
There is nothing more frustrating as not actually achieving your personal goals. There is a good chance that you just want to throw the towel. That is why it is so important to keep your goals realistic. It helps to do everything step by step.

2. Make a list of pros and cons
Every now and then you will face a difficult period. That is the moment you should remember why you are doing what you are doing. Especially, what the eventual benefits of your achievements will be. So make a list of the pros and cons of your efforts. No doubt the pros will outweigh the cons.

3. Track your progress
Change often comes slow. Sometimes too slow, at least that is what you think. But that does not mean that you aren’t making any progress at all! To stay motivated, it is good to keep track of your progress. No doubt every step gives you a better feeling, no matter how small that step is.

4. Hold on
It may sound strange, but it is so relevant: hold on! On average it takes about three weeks before you have learned new behavior. Getting through that first phase is therefore extremely important!

5. Reward yourself
If you have reached a next milestone, just celebrate that (a little bit). Rewarding yourself now and then makes it easier to keep your motivation. And don't be too hard for yourself at times when you experience a setback!

6. Start all over again
Are you trying to achieve change, but it still isn’t going the way you would like? Just take a break for a day or two, set new goals and start all over again. Also try to find out why it didn't work out initially. That will give you new insights and will help during your next attempt.

7. Ask for help
